visit to the Wine Cellars inaugurated in September 2000 to promote the
“Chianti Classico” type of wine. There will be possible to tast
all the products of the main farms in the Chianti area. |

and the salted pork meat of the area of Siena |

walk
through the little medieval streets in Greve in Chianti and visit to
the Abbay in Passignano placed
in the road that originally linked the Val d’Elsa to the Valdarno
zone and where the holy order of Vallombrosani has been seat since
1000 a.C. |

Castiglione d’Orcia, Radicofani , San Quirico d’Orcia,
Monticchiello), looking at the medieval districts mostly placed over
highhills from wich you can enjoi suggestive panoramas over the valley
and Amiata Mountain |

leaving for Montalcino on the Brunello route, visit to the medieval
castle and to the wine shop at the insight, free wine tasting |

to the Banfi farm placed on the south side of Montalcino in the
suggestive scenary of wineyard, specialized in high quality wine
products. This farm nowdays is a point of reference in the market wine
production, offers the possibility to visit its old wine cellars,
glass museum, tasting of various tipe of wine, to lunch combining 5
different kind of Brunello with as many tipical dishes of the
traditional tuscany cooking |

the afternoon it is possible an excursion to the near Castelnuovo
dell’Abate where it is placed the beautiful Sant’Antimo Abbey wich

most important monastic romanesque architecture |

leaving again for the Chianti area to visit its castles, according to
one of the six tours organized from the Municipal Administration of
Gaiole in Chianti.
Between them historically and architecturally important the one of
Brolio, of Meleto and of Badia a Coltibuono. It was refuge and
residence of Bettino Ricasoli, statesman and excellent expert of
agricolture. In fact he worked at the exact composition of the Chianti
wine in its percentage of grapes.
At the moment the castle is restructured according to gothic and
Siena’s schemes, in tipical Romanic style; its farm
cultivate about 1.200 hectars. Meleto castle was built at the
end of the XIV century, but inside is in Barocco style. Inside the
wine cellars wine tasting, if you demand it it will possible a
complete meal with local dishes and appropriate wines liqueurs.
And then Badia a
Coltibuono, a beautuful abbey sorrounded by a suggestive wood. It
has been built around an ancient oratory founded by Vallombrosani
monks in the IX century as a place of meditation and prayer. It
offers at the moment the possibility to visit the court, the cloister
and the wine cellars in wich the Chianti age. In the restaurant
it is possible to have a taste or a complete lunch with wines
appropriated to the menu you chose |
